Why Prevention Education Programs?

On April 4, 2011 the Office for Civil Rights sent out a Dear Colleague Letter for sexual violence to all Schools, Universities and Colleges across the country. Often men have no idea how profoundly violence affects the lives of women.
“Between one in four and one in five college women experience completed or attempted rape during their college years” (Katz, 2006).

Fight Like a Warrior
This 2 ½ hour program is combined with A True Soldier Stands Up, which is an awareness program that helps women to be proactive. It helps women to make smart decisions when combining alcohol and interacting in social settings by providing safety tips. The program educates them with an understanding of sexual battery, physical & emotional reactions, an awareness of sexual assault, domestic violence, and male behavior.

A True Soldier Stands Up:
This 2½ hour program could be combined with Fight Like a Warrior. The program is about a college athlete who made a decision one night that changed his life forever. Learn to make healthy choices when combining alcohol with dating and partying. This program is designed to help men understand how their lives can be changed in a moment with one decision as one of the presenter’s tells his story of how in a matter of days his athletic scholarship was gone. Learn from an Administrator stand point how to make healthy decisions you can make by taking responsibility so that you will not be in a similar situation. It is often presented to athletes and fraternities at both the college and high school level.

Managing Aggressive Behavior:
This 3 hour program is designed to help professionals deal with clients that can become aggressive. The program will help you become more aware of your surroundings and what precautionary measures you can take to protect yourself in the work environment. Also, the program explores concepts like personal space, assertive versus aggressive behavior, and conflict resolution, as well as open discussions on case studies and common scenarios that occur in sensitive workplace environments. Materials will be provided to all participants, and the class is designed to encourage class participation and group interaction.
